The Ecuadorian Amazon at a glance
Most visits to the Amazon in Ecuador go to one of two areas. Cuyabeno is a reserve in the northeast, reached from Quito or Lago Agrio, and lodges there work by motorized canoe. Yasuní is a national park near Coca, where one lodge is reached by motorboat and paddle canoe.
This site is independent and has no link to a park authority, lodge or tour operator. The prices below come from one lodge's 2026 price list and from one Yasuní lodge's published terms. They are examples, not a market range. Land transfers are usually not part of the package.

A Cuyabeno lodge price list for 2026

The single supplement in high season is $50 per person for the whole tour. Children aged 5 to 12 get 30 percent off, and children under 5 stay free. Full payment is due 30 days before arrival, and card payment through the booking tool adds 2.9 percent. An older overview from the same lodge shows $320 for the 3-day standard room, a different child age range and a different payment deadline, so confirm the current figures when you book.

What the price covers
The 2026 price list sets clear limits.
Included
A bilingual nature guide, lodging, all meals, treated water, coffee and tea, a rain poncho and rubber boots, plus walking and canoe activities.
Not included
Land transfers from Quito, Coca or Lago Agrio, flights, extra drinks and $10 for a visit to a Siona community. Plan for these on top of the table above.
Getting to the lodge
The lodge's program starts at the Cuyabeno bridge and control point. The guide registers the group, and you continue by motorized canoe. From Quito, the lodge lists a private tourist bus at $37 each way, which means $74 round trip per person, with an overnight trip before the program starts. From Coca, it offers a road transfer of about 3.5 hours from $140 per vehicle for up to 4 people, which is an entry price and not a public fare.
When to go
The lodge says September, October, January and February have historically been drier. That is not a guarantee, and no month is certain to be dry or to have low water. Ask about conditions for your dates.
Best time to visit →Yasuní and the Napo river
Terms published by one Yasuní lodge.
To reach the Napo Wildlife Center you fly from Quito to Coca, then take a motorboat on the Napo for about 2 hours and a paddle canoe for about 1.5 hours. The flight is not in the lodge price. The lodge also excludes alcohol, laundry, tips and extra nights after canceled flights.
The operator advises booking at least 3 months ahead. That is its own advice, not a legal booking rule for the park. It recommends children from 5 years and a private guide for families, which is also a recommendation and not a park age limit. The lodge's packing list covers binoculars, long light trousers and shirts, rain protection, personal medicine, a flashlight, sunscreen and insect protection.

Entry, health and current conditions
Official notices as of October 2026.
Entry rules
A passport valid for six months is required. US citizens can stay up to 90 days within 12 months, German citizens 90 days per year of stay counted from the first entry, and Austrians up to 90 days. For Swiss citizens, ask the embassy for the current rule. For Germans entering overland from Peru or Colombia, the German Foreign Office lists a police clearance certificate with apostille and translation, so check this before an overland route.
Yellow fever
The CDC recommends vaccination from 9 months of age for areas east of the Andes below 2,300 m, including Orellana and Sucumbíos. For entry, the CDC lists proof for travelers aged 1 to 60 after more than 10 days in Colombia, Peru, Brazil or Bolivia, with the vaccine given at least 10 days before arrival. The German Foreign Office names no mandatory vaccine for direct entry from Germany, which does not cover a trip via Peru, Brazil or Bolivia. Wording differs between sources, so confirm your route with a consulate and a travel medicine clinic.
Malaria
The CDC lists malaria transmission below 1,500 m, including Orellana, Sucumbíos, Pastaza and Morona-Santiago. A lodge may say it has no reported cases in its area, but that is not proof of no risk. This site gives no medication details, so ask a travel medicine clinic.
Security notices
The German Foreign Office lists a continuing state of emergency in Orellana, Sucumbíos and Pastaza, and short-notice roadblocks and checks can disrupt transfers. It advises against non-essential travel to the immediate Colombian border area, except Tulcán. That is not a closure of Cuyabeno or Yasuní, and a bookable program does not prove a safe road. The foreign ministries give 911 as the emergency number.
