How Amazon rainforest tours differ
An Amazon tour is rarely one product. Most trips are one of three types. A lodge stay gives you a room, meals and guided walks and boat rides from a fixed base. A river cruise moves you along the water on a ship with a cabin. A day trip is a single outing from a city such as Manaus or Iquitos.
The prices below come from single operators for 2026. They show what one product costs, not a market range. Getting there is often a separate cost, and a lodge in a region is not always inside the protected area of the same name.

Tour examples compared
Prices per person in 2026, shared double room unless noted. Each row is one operator's product.

|---|---|---|---|
| Cuyabeno Lodge, dormitory | 3 days, 2 nights | Ecuador | $239 |
| Cuyabeno Lodge, standard room | 3 days, 2 nights | Ecuador | $299 (an older page shows $320) |
| Cuyabeno Lodge, suite | 5 days, 4 nights | Ecuador | $579 |
| Posada Amazonas | 3 days, 2 nights | Peru | From $1,266 |
| Chalalán, Jochi program | 3 days, 2 nights | Bolivia | – |
| M/Y Tucano, Into the Wild Amazon | 4 nights | Brazil | From $2,750 (Green cabin) |
| M/Y Tucano, Heart of the Amazon | 6 nights | Brazil | From $4,650 (Green cabin) |
| Delfín II, suite | 3 nights | Peru | $3,800 |
For the Jochi program at Chalalán, ask the operator for the current total price. The Delfín II page now promotes a 7-night program but still shows 3-night and 4-night rates ($3,800 and $4,900 outside the holiday period). Confirm which program is on sale for your dates.

Three kinds of Amazon tour
What each type means in practice.
Lodge stays
The 3-day Cuyabeno program starts on Monday, Tuesday or Friday. You meet at the Cuyabeno entrance, your guide registers the group and a motorized canoe takes you to the lodge. The trip from Quito does not count as part of the program. At Posada Amazonas in Peru, the operator lists about 1 hour by road plus 1 hour by boat from Puerto Maldonado.
How to choose a lodge →River cruises
Ships run set itineraries with cabins, meals and guided excursions. The Tucano sails on the Rio Negro and the Amazon in the Manaus region. Delfín sails in the Pacaya-Samiria area of Peru. Departures and programs change, so check the current schedule for your month.
River cruise guide →Day trips
Day outings, such as a boat trip to the Meeting of the Waters near Manaus, differ by operator. Price, duration and meeting point are not fixed across providers. Compare what the boat, the guide and the lunch cost before you pick one.
Manaus guide →What to check before you book
The small print matters more than the headline price.
Getting to the start point
Cuyabeno Lodge lists transfers from Quito, Coca or Lago Agrio as extra. A private tourist bus from Quito costs $37 each way, $74 return per person, with a night trip before the program. The Coca option takes about 3.5 hours and starts at $140 per vehicle for up to 4 people. At Napo Wildlife Center in Ecuador, flights are not in the price. Check current travel advice for Ecuador before you plan an overland transfer.
Ecuador guide →Park fees and community fees
Chalalán lists a Madidi fee of 200 BOB on top of the Jochi package. Cuyabeno lists $10 extra for the Siona community visit. Peru's protected areas publish daily rates in soles. Which fees apply depends on your route.
Bolivia guide →Boat time is travel time
The Jochi program lists 5.5 hours upriver and 3 hours back to Rurrenabaque, plus a 2 km walk of about 25 minutes between landing and lodge. Do not count that as a full day of hiking.
Children, solo rooms and payment
Cuyabeno lists 30 percent off for ages 5 to 12 and free travel under 5. A single room in high season adds $50 per person for the whole tour. Full payment is due 30 days before the start, and card payments add 2.9 percent. An older overview page lists different child ages and a 45-day deadline, so confirm the current terms. Napo Wildlife Center suggests booking at least 3 months ahead.
Health and entry
Yellow fever and malaria advice depends on your route, and visa rules differ by country. Read the travel tips and ask a travel medicine clinic before you pay a deposit.
Amazon rainforest tours: frequently asked questions
How much does an Amazon tour cost?
It depends on the type. The examples above range from $239 for a 3-day Cuyabeno dormitory stay to $4,650 and more for a 6-night ship cabin. These are single 2026 products per person, not a market average, and transfers and park fees can add to the total.
How long should an Amazon jungle tour be?
The shortest lodge programs listed here are 3 days and 2 nights. Boat and road transfers use a large part of that time, so a stay of 4 or 5 days leaves more time in the forest.
Is a flight included?
Usually not. Napo Wildlife Center excludes flights, and Cuyabeno excludes transfers from Quito, Coca and Lago Agrio. Delfín includes transfers when you use its recommended Iquitos flights, but not the flights themselves.
Will I see jaguars or dolphins?
No operator can promise a sighting. Wildlife depends on the season, the water level and luck. Treat any guarantee in a sales text with caution.
Can I do an Amazon tour without a guide?
In most protected areas, you need an authorized operator or a registered guide. Rules for Manu differ between the Spanish and English official pages, so book through an operator and confirm the current rule for your sector.
